Project description

Buddhism is a religion that is mostly practiced in Asia and is based on the teaching of Gautama Buddha. I grew up in a family that worships Buddha, so it is a part of my childhood memories. Like other religions, its practitioners take their worship seriously. However, as I grew up, I started to question whether one really needs to be so serious and follow all those rules during worshipping to show respect for the religion? Or it is ok to be less serious about it, as long as we truly respect it from our heart. Usually you can see images of Buddha from paintings, books, or made into sculptures; In a friendly and peaceful look with all kinds of decorations around it. In this project you will see some different ways of using Buddha images.

Communication goals

In this project, I will illustrate many different kinds of Buddha characters in a less serious way and use those characters combined with some pop elements to create new visual image of Buddha by adding some humor and a personal perspective. I want to show my audience that there is a less serious way of viewing a religion while still being respectful. By using different ways to show the images of Buddha to communicate my audience with a different way to respect the religion.
